Program Model

At Opstad Elementary a full-time certificated special education teacher heads the department and coordinates services for children. Special education services are provided in a resource room on a one-to-one basis or in a small group setting, depending on the student’s specific IEP needs.

Other Services

Consultation: This is designed to provide classroom teachers with a resource for planning and implementing strategies and programs for special education students while they are in the general education classroom. It is also an avenue for teachers who have specific concerns about a student’s program or progress. The special education teacher is available, on an as-needed basis, for consultation about academic, social, and behavioral concerns
