Parents and Community Members,

Welcome to the Snoqualmie Valley School District’s website.  I encourage you to take some time to further peruse it and learn more about the district and our schools, which are among the finest in the state of Washington.

We remain committed to making them even better, however.  In the Snoqualmie Valley School District we are dedicated to the notion of continuous improvement, and we will continue to pursue the highest levels of excellence. The fundamental purpose of our schools is to ensure high levels of learning for every student. This is the ideal toward which we strive.  In partnership with families and our community, our district provides high-quality educational opportunities, academic rigor and student support services in a positive and safe school environment.

The Snoqualmie Valley School District serves approximately 6,000 students from preschool through grade 12 in ten schools and the Snoqualmie Valley Virtual Academy. Located in east King County of Washington State, the district encompasses over 400 square miles, including the cities of North Bend and Snoqualmie, surrounding areas of unincorporated King County west of Snoqualmie Pass through Fall City, and parts of Sammamish and Redmond.

We employ approximately 630 dedicated staff members.  Each day, skilled teachers are working hard to engage students with high-quality instruction.  Our teachers and students receive assistance from other staff members who work to support the educational process and ensure that our students are learning in a safe and secure school environment.

The Snoqualmie Valley public schools provide students an excellent education to prepare them for life after school in the 21st century.  Building upon a strong academic foundation and sound instructional strategies, the use of interactive technology in classrooms and access to online resources is helping teachers engage students in learning as never before. With technology training and tools that provide immediate and frequent feedback on levels of student achievement, our teachers are able to tailor lessons to meet the specific needs of their students.

Achievement levels and graduation rates have continued to trend upward over the past several years in the Snoqualmie Valley Public Schools.  Earlier this year, our school district was recognized as one of just six school districts in the entire state of Washington for student achievement and increased participation in Advanced Placement (AP) courses at Mount Si High School.  During the past school year, four of our schools were recognized as Washington Achievement Award winners by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction for performing in the top 5% of schools in the entire state, and a fifth was named a 2010 Washington School of Distinction.

In looking forward to the 2011-12 school year, we will continue to build upon past successes and embrace new opportunities to raise the level of student learning in our schools.  While our students are already experiencing success and demonstrating high levels of achievement, we remain committed to continuous improvement — it is our goal to make our schools even better in the future so that our students receive the maximum benefit from their educational experience here.   We will continue to focus upon increasing academic achievement and maintaining safe schools so that our students will graduate from high school prepared to continue in post‐secondary education, if that is their desire.  We believe this emphasis on student growth and achievement will help children fully realize their potentials with the goal of becoming life-long learners and successful, productive citizens.

Meaningful partnerships and strong support from the community, a robust level of parental involvement, and the daily efforts of our staff make this school district a very special place.  We invite you to visit our schools and see for yourself the great things occurring in our classrooms. We also welcome volunteers who are interested in make a positive difference for the children in our schools.

Thank you… for the privilege of teaching your children, and for your continued support of education here in the Snoqualmie Valley School District.
