Healthy Youth Survey

The Snoqualmie Valley School District participates in the state’s Healthy Youth Survey, which is administered every two years to students in grades 6, 8, 10 and 12. The biennial Healthy Youth Survey is a joint effort between the state Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, Department of Health, Department of Social Health Service's Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse, the Community Trade and Economic Development, and the Family Policy Council. Questions for students focus on risky behaviors as well as safety and violence, physical activity and diet, and emotional wellbeing.

The most recent Healthy Youth Survey was given to students in October of 2010. When results of the 2010 survey were released this spring, a team of staff, parents, mental health professional and community members worked to analyze the data.  Some of the findings and trends over recent years were shared at the April 28 School Board. In addition, the annual Healthy Youth Forum event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 11 from 6:30 - 8 pm in the Mount Si High School commons.  The Snoqualmie Valley Community Network is hosting this event, in partnership with the SnoValley Youth Council and our School District, to share the survey data with the public and to initiate conversations about the health of our youth and its impact on our community.
