  Other important facts about our students.                              
  Student Council - This group is comprised of representatives from grades 2-5 and work to promote positive behavior and monthly, school-wide themes.  They write and provide speeches to the entire school about promoting healthy behaviors and themes as well as develop posters for such.  They plan spirit days and work to get speakers in for special occasions. 
Welcoming Committee - This student group ran a student directed "New Student Orientation" prior to school.  They shared experiences at CVES and provided new families tips for getting acquainted with their new environment.  They also offered tours of the school highlighting where different events happen and articulating the processes of the school.  When new students arrive throughout the year, they will meet with smaller groups of students doing the same thing and creating buddy networks so students feel more welcomed to school.  In the event someone is having
 
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
  difficulty making the transition, they will initiate a meeting with our school counselor and this student and the  
  welcoming committee meet for lunch and process ideas for better engaging new students in our school.
