Our Learning Improvement Team

Fall City Elementary School's Learning Improvement Team consist of staff members, parents, and community members.  The team is divided into two separate teams.  The School Improvement Leadership Team provides the leadership in the areas of curriculum and instruction primarily in reading, writing, assessment and the integration of technology across the curriculum.  The Building Growth Team focuses their efforts on building management issues; i.e. scheduling, budgeting, and building policies and procedures.

The Learning Improvement Team is constantly researching innovative and creative approaches to maximizing levels of learning throughout the school.  At the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year, our staff established four school improvement goals. The first goal is to improve student understanding in math of problem solving. The second goal is to improve students' writing specifically in the areas of content, organization, and style. Our reading goal is to improve students' rskill in the area of analyzing literary text. Our fourth and final school improvement goal is to improve communication with our learning community regarding interventions and remediation provided for struggling students. An implementation plan has been developed for the next three to five years and will be monitored by our Learning Improvement Team.  Student improvement will be measured by the increased levels of performance on the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) at the third, fourth, fifth grades and specific grade level assessments at each grade level.

  How can parents/community help?

Fall City Elementary School offers parents and community members numerous opportunities to become involved in our school success.  Our Learning Improvement Team consists of 18 members including a parent representative.  Parents participate on our building's Technology, Playground, Emergency Preparedness, and Literacy committees.  Our school PTSA has numerous committees that support our overall school program including our volunteer reading tutorial program, and parenting forums throughout the school year.  Parents are also encouraged to become involved in numerous district level committees/meetings including the Technology Committee, Curriculum and Review Committee, and bi-monthly school board meetings.
