Our Learning Improvement Team
Our Learning Improvement Team (LIT) consists of fifteen members: the principal, seven certificated staff representatives, two classified staff representatives, and four parent representatives. The LIT leads the continual improvement efforts of our instruction, learning, and overall school.  Guided by the LIT, we involve certificated staff, classified staff, and parents in the development of our school improvement plan.  Last year the LIT conducted a staff and parent survey in order to assess needs and concerns. The information, along with other data, was used to develop our goals and improvement plan for the 2005-06 school year and beyond. Math - to improve students' total knowledge and skills in mathematics, specifically in number sense, geometric sense, probability and statistics, and algebraic sense. The standard four-year long term goal is to have 56% of our fourth grade students’ score at or above the 400 level as measured by the 2007 WASL. The target for the 2004-05 school year is to have 52% of our fourth grade students score at the 400 level as measured by the 2007 WASL.  We will also continue our efforts to foster a safe and respectful culture and to inform parents about classroom, school, and district activities/decisions.

  How can parents/community help?
We believe parents are an essential part of each student's success, and parent involvement positively impacts student's academic, social, and emotional growth.  Parent involvement is important both at home and at school.  We are striving to create an atmosphere in which parents and the community feel welcomed and are invited and encouraged to become involved.  Over 250 people volunteered for our school last year.  We are working to increase that number even more this year.  YOU CAN HELP:  1. Check your child's homework each night and talk about what he/she did at school today.  2. READ with your child, or have your child read to you, each night for 15-20 minutes.  3. Practice math facts five minutes each night with your child.  4. Come to school events and participate in school activities.  5. Volunteer!  You can do projects at home or at school: correct papers, work in the classroom, office or library, help with school functions, etc!  The list is endless!
