What is the Snoqualmie Valley Virtual Academy?
Snoqualmie Valley School District offers an online education option for high school students. The Snoqualmie Valley Virtual Academy (SVVA) has partnered with Aventa Learning to offer a fully-accredited program that allows students to take high school classes online and graduate with a Mount Si High School diploma.
The Virtual Academy is designed for high school students who are interested in taking up to six classes online per semester, part time or full time. Thre is no tuition cost for students to take up to six classes per semester. Some courses do require specific materials that are not provided - please see the list.
Credit recovery options are available for $75 per semester class ($125 per semester class beginning 8/30/11).
Credit Enhancement options are also available for $275 per semester class above six classes. This involves a student taking more than six classes online, on-campus at Mount Si/Two River and/or through the Running Start program at a local community college.
Why should I consider taking classes from the Snoqualmie Valley Virtual Academy?
How do I get started?
Who may enroll in full-time online learning?
Any self-motivated high school student may enroll in online learning. (Middle school options are coming in the future.) Organization and time-management are just two of the essential skills necessary for this independent learning environment. The others can be found in the Online Learning Inventory Assessment which you will be asked to complete as a part of the enrollment process to assess your motivations and strengths towards becoming a successful online learner.
How does it work?
Aventa Learning provides accredited curriculum, qualified teachers and instruction for online students. Many students find success taking just one or two online classes at a time. Once approved, students can be enrolled for two more courses and repeat this pattern throughout the year. Completing six full credits a year (12 classes) will allow a student to earn a high school diploma in four years, provided they work with their online teachers and local mentor and adhere to the following responsibilities outlined in the SVVA Online Learning Agreement.
