During the Board meeting on January 26, Superintendent Joel Aune announced that Rhonda Schmidt has been appointed Principal at Two Rivers School beginning next school year.
The School Board congratulated Rhonda Schmidt on her appointment at their January 26 regular meeting.
“After careful consideration to determine Two Rivers Principal Amy Montanye-Johnson’s successor, we are convinced that Ms. Schmidt is the right person at this time to lead Two Rivers School,” explained Superintendent Joel Aune. “In her roles as assistant principal and teacher, Ms. Schmidt has been held in the highest regard by parents, students, and fellow staff members alike. She is a capable and competent leader who embraces challenges and consistently keeps the best interest of the students as the top priority for herself and for the staff.”
Schmidt has served as Assistant Principal at Mount Si High School for the past three years, and prior she taught mathematics and science at Mount Si High School four years. She also taught at Foster High School in Tukwila (5 years) and at Bremerton High School (4 years). Schmidt has earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Western Washington University, a master’s degree in Teaching from Seattle University, and a master’s degree in Forest Resources from the University of Washington. She completed her Principal Certification through the UW Danforth Program.
Aune added, “Ms. Schmidt is professional, dedicated, well organized, and very knowledgeable about teaching and learning. She listens well, while at the same time articulating a clear vision for the school. While we will miss Ms. Montanye-Johnson next year, we know Ms. Schmidt will continue to support a school environment where students are treated respectfully while being held accountable to clear standards for behavior and learning. Most importantly, Ms. Schmidt possesses a love for kids, enjoys interacting with them, and takes satisfaction in their success.”
“It truly is an honor to be appointed as the principal of Two Rivers School,” said Ms. Schmidt. “I am extremely excited about working together with the students, staff and parents to promote great learning at Two Rivers.”
