The Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) is administered every spring in math and English language arts to students in grades 3-8, as well as all 10th graders and any 11th and 12th graders who still need to meet a graduation pathway requirement. Students in grades 5, 8 and 11 also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS).
