Two Rivers School (TRS) is an alternative learning program of choice that emphasizes goal setting and personal responsibility for students in grades 8-12 who prefer a smaller school environment as they work toward a high school diploma. It began as a part-time evening program in 1987 and expanded to its current location in 1997. The school now serves approximately 110 high school students and 13 students in grade 8. Two Rivers provides onsite childcare for teen parents, plus access to Running Start, the Washington Network for Innovative Careers (WaNIC), and accredited online courses through the Snoqualmie Valley Virtual Academy (SVVA). Two Rivers School uses a non-graded, standards-based evaluation system where students work toward the 22 (24 for class of 2019+) credits the district requires to graduate.
The North Bend Educational and Cultural Association (NBECA) holds an annual Spring Scholarship Auction to raise money to provide local students with scholarships for postsecondary education needs. As part of the auction festivities, we highlight students’ dreams for their futures with a student showcase. We want students to turn their High School and Beyond Plan into a fun, creative poster to display the evening of the auction for the community to see. Two lucky students who participate will receive $100! For more information about NBECA and the Spring Scholarship Auction go to www.nbeca.community. For specific questions about or to sign up to participate, contact Jenny Ritchey at email@example.com.
Stopping power struggles before they begin is the ultimate goal for all parents. Sometimes conflict can quickly escalate despite our best efforts. When conflict does reach the point of concern, it is important for parents and caregivers to have strategies to defuse the conflict. Conflict de-escalation can help to reduce the tension so that you and your teen can connect and communicate more effectively. Parenting 180 meets every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6:30 to 8:30 at Snoqualmie City Hall. A pizza dinner is provided. For more information or questions about Parenting 180 please email the Community Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org
