Help Restore Local Natural Areas with Mount Si Green Team
-
Several local planting and restoration events are planned in October. Mount Si High School Green Team members, in partnership with the Snoqualmie Tribe and City of Snoqualmie, hope you will join them in these volunteer efforts to preserve natural areas throughout our beautiful Snoqualmie Valley. Students in grades 6-12 especially are encouraged to get dirty while doing good for our community.
Following the Oct. 1 Snoqualmie Tribe restoration event in Fall City, there are many more opportunities this month to maintain local trails and natural habitats. Please mark your calendar and consider volunteering:
Sat., October 15 is Green Snoqualmie Day at Three Forks Natural Area (other side of the SV Trail from the Dog Park). (See flyer at right.) Join the Snoqualmie’s Green City Partnerships from 9 a.m. – noon, planting and cardboard mulching in the large fenced planting area by the Three Forks Dog Park. All ages are welcome. Click here for Oct. 15 details and to register.
- Sat., October 22 is the Meadowbrook - Rejuvenate Kimball Rain Garden! event at Centennial Park, 9 a.m. – noon, coordinated through the Snoqualmie’s Green City Partnerships program. Click here for Oct. 22 details and to register.
- Sat. October 29 – Mount Si High School’s Green Team is hosting a restoration workday on across the street from the high school (near the tennis courts) at Kimball Creek Slough from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Bring a costume to work in! Pizza and LaCroix will be provided.
- Sat., November 19, join the Tribe as they continue to focus on Fall City Floodplain Restoration, by planting in the large field just north of Fall City’s downtown area. For details, be sure to check the Tribe’s website closer to the date.
