Burke Box Traveling Museum Honors Native American Heritage

  • Thank you to the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation and the Snoqualmie Tribe for providing funding for a “Burke Box,” a traveling museum-in-the-classroom resource for second and fourth graders across the district. Provided by the Burke Museum, the box comes equipped with lessons that provide hands-on learning using traditional and contemporary artifacts. There is also an interactive online component. The Burke Box supports the teaching of OSPI’s “Since Time Immemorial” social studies content.

November is recognized as National Native American Heritage Month. During this month, we honor and celebrate the rich and varied cultures, traditions, history, and societal contributions of local indigenous people. Enjoy this great video featuring one of our fourth-grade classrooms engaging in this memorable lesson.
