Answers to your FAQ's:
If your child is sick or will be absent for any other reason, please be sure to contact the office first thing in the morning so they are aware and the absence can be excused. When possible, I would also appreciate an email so that I am aware of the absence as well. If your child will be absent for an extended amount of time, please let me know in advance so I can prepare materials. If you are leaving on vacation I will do my best to provide materials but cannot replace in-class instruction and experience. It is very helpful to know in advance!
After School Changes
Please send a note or e-mail if there is a change in after school schedule/pickup/bus. Without a note, I must send students where they are scheduled to go for their safety.
When students arrive, they will drop off their backpacks and go right to the playground until the first bell rings. Backpacks may be lined up on the wall outside of our classroom. This is the procedure whether students are walkers, bus riders, or dropped off by an adult. If students are late to school, they MUST check in at the front office first.
Students are welcome to celebrate birthdays in class by bringing a treat if they choose. Birthday celebrations will happen at the end of the day, so please drop off treats in the classroom in the morning, or in the office before 2:30pm (12:30 on Fridays). Please let me know in advance if your student will be bringing a birthday treat so I can plan accordingly.
My e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org and my classroom phone number is (425)831-3851 E-mail is the best way to reach me. If you call during school hours, it is unlikely that I will be available to answer. If you have an urgent message or a sudden change in after school changes, please call the main office.
Students will have 10 minutes of math practice every night (except Friday), and 100 minutes of reading per week. Reading logs and book reviews due each month.
If your student is getting hot lunch, we have a system for signing up for lunch at school. Please make sure their lunch accounts are loaded with money online, or send in a check or cash in an envelope with their name on it.
If you do not want your student to appear in photos on the district/school website, or my classroom website/Instagram, you must fill out an opt-out form. You can get a form from either the office or district website.. Also, please let me know if you will be opting out of photos.
Please make sure your child comes to school with proper clothing for the weather. As you know, the weather can change very quickly (especially in the fall and winter). I recommend that your kiddo always comes to school with a coat!
Snacks & Water
Please send a nutritious snack to school with your student each day (except Friday). Please send in a spill-proof water bottle to keep at school, as we do not have a drinking fountain in our classroom. Students will bring home their water bottles every Friday to get washed over the weekend.
This is a blue school-issued logo folder. The folder is to come to school each day and will go home each night. All homework, plan sheets, paperwork from myself, as well as important handouts from the school and PTSA, will be in this folder.
I will send out a Weekly Newsletter every Thursday via e-mail, and also post it on my website. It is important that you read the newsletter every week to stay updated on what is going on in class. If I have other important information throughout the week, I will contact you by e-mail.
