Well, it seems I’m the "new kid" around here, and I couldn’t be happier about that!  However I am not actually new to Fall City Elementary, my daughters have been attending the school for the past five years. I've been volunteering in classrooms and taking note of the dedication of the teachers at this school.  Plus my family has participated in so many of the great community building activities!  I can honestly say this is a very special place, and I am so thrilled to be working with the amazing 3rd Grade Team.  Collectively we share a passion for connecting with kids, developing a growth mindset, and integrating fun into what we're learning together!

Since I'm the newbie, I should probably take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself.  Born and raised in Alton, Illinois, my husband and I moved to the Pacific NW about ten years ago - after spending a few years in Florida and then northern Virginia.  Before becoming a mom, I was a teacher for 11 years.  My experience includes two years teaching 6th grade Language Arts, four years in 5th grade, three years as an Instructional Coach for technology integration, and two years at the Science Tech Magnet Program in the Issaquah School District.

For the past nine years I was fortunate enough to stay home with my two daughters - Natalie (5th grade) and Charlotte (1st grade), and most days I couldn’t imagine a more rewarding job. During those years I also published a website called Macaroni Kid, a place where parents can find all the local family fun!  But I've always known that I am a teacher at heart and a return to the classroom was inevitable!  This year feels like the perfect time to return to the profession that I love, and I know FCES is the perfect place for me.

My family owns a 1985 Vanagon Westfalia, which means we spend our summer taking road trips and camping all over Washington and Oregon.  This July we went on an adVANture from Seattle to Colorado Springs with stops in Yellowstone and Mount Rushmore - what an experience!   We love to be outside and hike, rock climb, and ski whenever we get the chance.

I am merely mediocre at cooking, cleaning, and crafting, but I do all three on a fairly regular basis - maybe less so now that I'm working full-time.  I have a weakness for chai tea lattes, reality television, and the chance to sleep in!
