Dan Schlotfeldt, Superintendent

After serving five months as the Interim Superintendent, Dan Schlotfeldt was selected as the district's Superintendent at the Feb. 16, 2023, School Board meeting.Over the past 27 years, Dan has served Snoqualmie Valley students, families, and staff in various roles. He has extensive leadership experience and knowledge of the district, including thoughtful planning, focus on student achievement, professional development, recruiting excellent staff, contract negotiations, curriculum development, and data and assessments to make informed decisions.
He began his career in education in 1994 as an elementary teacher at Fall City Elementary and served as the school's principal starting in 2004. After spending ten years as the building principal, Schlotfeldt was named the Director of Elementary Education, and in 2016, he was named Executive Director of Teaching and Learning. Schlotfeldt was promoted to Assistant Superintendent in 2020.
In addition, he is a member of the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA), National Elementary School Principals (NESP), and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ACSD) organizations.
A native of Grandview, Wash., and a lifelong learner, Schlotfeldt earned his teaching degree from Central Washington University. In 1998, Schlotfeldt earned his master’s in Instructional Technology before returning to Central Washington to receive his principal certificate in 2004. Seven years later, Schlotfeldt received his Superintendent Certificate from Washington State University.
Schlotfeldt and his wife, Melanie, have two children who attend Snoqualmie Valley Schools. Schlotfeldt loves the outdoors, either skiing, boating, or being with his friends and family.
