Summer Math 1

Yes, students can sit for a comprehensive 6th grade math exam to see if they are eligible to move directly from Pathway C to Pathway D without taking the full summer course. Interested? Register here for the exam no later than May 15^th. Students who demonstrate their knowledge/skills in Math 1 standards with an 80% or higher on this comprehensive exam will have the SVSD Summer Math 1 requirement waived and will be eligible to begin 6th grade in Pathway D. Students who opt to take this exam and do not demonstrate proficiency with a score below 80% will be required to complete the SVSD Summer Math 1 course. This exam is NOT required at all - it’s only for students who believe they’ve already mastered the 6th grade math standards through their own math pursuits. 

Students will be able to work ahead or wait to get started if they can complete the entire course within the 6-week window. We will not provide early access prior to the course start date or offer extensions. But, within the 6-week course window, students can work ahead, take a break, or delay their start.

Students will need to use HMH (the math curriculum site) and Schoology to complete the course. The first step in the course will be to watch the online orientation video that makes sure all students have access to HMH and Schoology and know how to navigate the course. Then, students will continue to use those platforms to complete the course.

Yes. All students who were recommended Pathway D will pay a reduced price ($175) and have access to all the videos/materials but will not be graded or be required to take the in-person exams. They will still get feedback via HMH scores – they will be able to see which questions they get right/wrong on all at home HMH assessments as they progress through the course materials.

Yes!  There will be 6 options for in person testing dates/times. Students will need to take a total of 3 in person exams. A maximum of 2 exams can be taken on the same day, so from the 6 options, students will need to be able to attend a minimum of 2 sessions to complete all 3 exams. Keep in mind that a student will need to have completed all the content for each test prior to taking the test, so their pace will need to align with the in person testing dates. Testing dates will be posted no later than Spring Break.

All in person testing will take place between 9am-11am at the SVSD Admin Building which - 8001 Silva Ave SE, Snoqualmie, WA 98065

This course will only be graded for students who were recommended Pathway C because they will be required to pass at 80% in order to access Pathway D.  For those students, the grade will be based solely on the HMH assessments (at home and the 3 in person exams). The goal of this course is to ensure students have the 6th grade math standards so that they can be successful in future math courses so it’s critical that we ensure their readiness by basing their grade on their knowledge and skills. Students will have 1 retake opportunity for each in person exam (except for any test taken on the last in person testing date).
