Bond Project Updates

In 2015, Snoqualmie Valley School District voters approved a $244.4 million bond to improve our schools. We're proud to report on the progress and completion of key projects that were part of that bond—demonstrating our commitment to keeping our promises to our community.

Early Learning Center: Completed

The remodel of the former Two Rivers School building in North Bend, converting it into a new SVSD Early Learning Center (ELC), was completed in time for the first day of preschool, September 2, 2025. This facility is home to our preschool and daycare programs, expanding our capacity to serve Snoqualmie Valley families, and consolidating our resources and focus on early childhood education. As part of our school district's educational responsibilities, we provide preschool services to students ages 3-4 who qualify for special education. This expansion also creates opportunities for more typically developing children to participate in our blended preschool program through a tuition-based option. In addition, our on-site daycare provides an option to help staff with toddlers return to work with greater ease, flexibility, and piece of mind.

Project Highlights

  • Budget: $5.25 million allocated from the 2015 bond.
  • Purpose: Expands capacity from 5 classrooms at SES, to 8 classrooms total.
  • Capacity: Serves 100-120 preschool students and 20-30 children in daycare for staff families. Added full-day preschool for 4-year-olds.
  • Construction Status: Completed within budget, in time for the 2025-26 school year. (Lastly, the new playground installation is anticipated mid-September.) This is the last of the projects funded by the 2015 bond.

Mount Si High School: Completed

Our state-of-the-art Mount Si High School opened in the Fall of 2019, with the beautiful Performing Arts Center (PAC) opening in 2021. The new facility accommodates up to 2,300 students, and includes expanded science labs, enhanced performing arts areas, collaboration spaces for teamwork, and specialized Career & Technical Education (CTE) classrooms—all built to modern safety and flood-proof standards. This campus also houses Two Rivers School, our Big Picture high school.

Timber Ridge Elementary: Completed

Timber Ridge Elementary School (TRES), the sixth elementary school in the Snoqualmie Valley School District, opened as planned in 2016. Located along Snoqualmie Parkway, the 71,000 square-foot facility was designed to meet the growing needs of our community and includes 31 classrooms. With nearly 610 students in kindergarten through fifth grades, Timber Ridge Elementary has the second largest enrollment in the district, after Mount Si High School.

Other Improvements: Completed

  • Safety and security upgrades at all schools
  • SES gymnasium expansion
  • Roof replacement and building weatherization projects at multiple elementary schools and SMS, to protect assets and reduce maintenance

  • Replacement of fire alarm systems as NBES and FCES
  • Replacement of aged boilers and flooring at multiple schools

  • Installation of turf at CKMS field via joint venture with Snoqualmie Valley Youth Soccer Association.

Delivering on Promises — and More

Thanks to careful budgeting and strong fiscal oversight, many of our capital projects came in under their original budgets. As a result, we were able to reinvest savings into additional asset preservation and facility improvements across the district.

Notable enhancements include the replacement of HVAC systems at Chief Kanim Middle School and extensive repairs to the school’s exterior stucco, which had been deteriorating. Addressing these issues now prevented what could have been significantly higher costs in the future, had we waited for a future bond cycle.

We also purchased a parcel of land in front of Opstad Elementary School and are currently working to convert that property into a new entrance for cars, along with added parking. By allowing separate access points for buses and cars, this project will greatly improve student safety, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance visibility and accessibility to the school campus.

In addition to careful use of bond dollars, state matching funds and impact fees collected on new residential construction have played a key role in our ability to complete all promised projects—and even expand the scope to include additional improvements not originally identified in the 2015 bond.

Thank you

We are grateful to this community and local voters for your continued support of Snoqualmie Valley students!
