As part of National Career & Technical Education (CTE) Month, we’re highlighting Mount Si High School’s Construction Trades course, where students gain real-world experience in general contracting under the guidance of Mr. Meyer.

Junior Zane Alexander and his classmates are currently working on an exciting community project—building new planter boxes for Snoqualmie Valley Hospital’s rehabilitation center. These planter boxes are designed to enhance accessibility, allowing patients to roll fully underneath them instead of just accessing them from the side.

In this course, students collaborate with local businesses and school projects, learning the entire process from designing solutions and drafting plans to creating quotes and executing the build. The team is close to finishing their first planter box before completing the rest.
