Egg Hatching Livestream

Welcome to the Chick Hatch Livestream! 🐣

We’re thrilled to bring you a livestream from our Ag Science classes, where over a dozen eggs are set to hatch in the coming days. You can monitor the progress of the hatching process from home by watching the livestream below. It’s an exciting time for our students and community to witness new life as part of our hands-on learning experience at Mount Si High School.

The Stages of the Hatching Process:

Watching the eggs hatch is an incredible process! Here’s a look at the stages you can expect over the next few days:

  1. Day 1-18: Embryo Development
During this time, the chicks are developing inside the eggs. You won't see much movement yet, but this is when their bodies begin to form.
  2. Day 19: Internal Pipping
The chick starts breathing in the air cell within the egg. You might hear faint chirping sounds from inside!
  3. Day 20: External Pipping
The chick cracks the outer shell with its beak. You may see a small hole appear on the egg's surface as it prepares to hatch.
  4. Day 21: Hatching Day!
The chick begins to fully break out of the shell. This is the most exciting part—watch closely as the chick emerges from the egg and enters the world!

What Happens Next?

Once the chicks have hatched, our students will care for them over the next few months. This includes feeding, watering, and ensuring they have a safe environment to grow. As part of their Ag Science class, the students will also track the chickens' development until they start laying eggs.

Once the chickens begin laying, the eggs will be sold as part of a fundraiser to support future agricultural projects at Mount Si High School. It’s a wonderful example of how our CTE (Career & Technical Education) program provides hands-on learning experiences that connect students to real-world skills and community engagement.

Thank you for following along! We’re excited to share this special experience with you. Stay tuned to the livestream for updates, and keep an eye out for the big hatching day!

Special Thanks:

A special shoutout to our Ag Science teacher, Amy Graham, for leading this incredible project, and to Tyler Andrews from our IT team for setting up the livestream so we can all follow along.
