Leadership Changes for 2026-27

Principal Transitions 

Two Rivers High School & Meadowbrook School:

Leah Hernandez has been selected as the next principal of Two Rivers School (our Big Picture high school) and Meadowbrook School (our district’s parent partnership program & 100% online option), pending School Board approval at their next meeting. Most recently, Leah was an assistant principal at Issaquah High School, where she provided leadership for student support systems, special education services, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) implementation, staff supervision, and school improvement initiatives. Throughout her career, she has focused on creating inclusive learning environments, strengthening family partnerships, and developing systems that help every student succeed. Hernandez shared her commitment to meeting students where they are and partnering with staff and families to create individualized pathways for success. Her experience includes leading multidisciplinary teams, strengthening intervention systems, and using data to improve student outcomes. A resident of Snoqualmie Valley already, she looks forward to serving the community she calls home

Chief Kanim Middle School: 

Travis Hall is the new CKMS Principal, ready to serve our middle school students in Fall City. He brings extensive experience in building systems of support, strengthening staff collaboration, and ensuring all students feel known, supported, and challenged to grow - in a career that spans over 20 years in both educational and mental health settings. Most recently, he was a principal in the Renton School District, where he led programs supporting students with a wide range of academic and social-emotional needs, and demonstrated a clear commitment to student-centered leadership, and continuous improvement. He’s earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Washington, a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Seattle Pacific University, and principal certification through City University of Seattle. A resident of the Fall City area, Hall has also spent years working with students in the Snoqualmie Valley community through youth sports, building strong relationships with local families.

Snoqualmie Elementary School:

Michelle Trifunovic will lead Snoqualmie Elementary School starting this fall, after serving as the Chief Kanim Middle School principal for the past decade. Prior to joining SVSD, she was a school administrator and teacher in the Issaquah School District.

As we announced last spring, Michelle is replacing John Norberg as the SES Principal, as he transitions to the Mount Si High School Leadership Team. (See below.)

Assistant Principals & Dean of Students:

Twin Falls Middle School:  

Korleen Cosgrove has been hired as the new TFMS Assistant Principal, replacing Andre Glover who accepted a leadership role at a school closer to his home. Korleen is moving here from Massachusetts, where she served as a principal intern at Gibbs Middle School in Arlington, MA, and a research assistant at Harvard University while completing a Master's in Education program. Her educational experience spans 11+ years across four states, where she's fostered relationships and strengthened inclusive communities, helping rebuild trust in schools among families. She effectively elevated student outcomes with data-driven decisions, instructional leadership and restorative practices and brings deep expertise in special education compliance and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) design. Korleen began her career teaching in the Bronx with a B.A. in Sociology, and an M.A. in Special Education from Columbia University’s Teachers College. Welcome to Washington State, and the Snoqualmie Valley!

North Bend Elementary School: 

Jessica Ackley is North Bend Elementary’s next Dean of Students, replacing Assistant Principal Katy Gibson, who was hired as principal of Black Diamond Elementary in the Enumclaw School District. Jessica brings 14 years of educational experience, including roles as a special education and first-grade teacher, a PBIS and Social-Emotional Support Coach in Issaquah, and most recently, as our Behavioral Health Program Specialist supporting all six SVSD elementary schools. Through her district-level work, Jessica has partnered closely with principals and leadership teams to strengthen MTSS, behavioral supports, and social-emotional learning systems across our schools. As Dean of Students, Jessica will work closely with students, families, and staff to support positive behavior systems, attendance, student well-being, family partnerships, school safety, and coordinated student supports. She is also enrolled in the University of Washington Bothell Leadership Development for Educators (LEDE) Program, where she is pursuing her principal certification this year.

Mount Si High School:

After serving our district for many years as Snoqualmie Elementary's principal, John Norberg will be expanding his experience at the secondary level on the Mount Si High School Leadership Team. As an assistant principal, John is replacing Kirk Dunckel, who completed a one-year position while Vernie Newell transitioned to the MSHS Principalship last year.

Additionally, while Mount Si Assistant Principal Katie Redman is on maternity leave this fall, former MSHS teacher and substitute Dirk Hansen will cover her responsibilities.
