Schools Foundation Investing in Student Safety
One of the districtwide initiatives that the Snoqualmie Valley School Foundation (SVSF) funded last year was purchasing emergency backpacks and supplies to ensure every SVSD teacher is well-equipped to support their students, in the event of an emergency.
Thanks to the Foundation’s investment in this district-wide safety initiative, our safety team took inventory and purchased supplies needed this summer to fill the emergency packs for the teachers’ return this school year. As a result, the Foundation donation bought 83 new backpacks and helped replenish and refresh supplies in 503 existing packs -- so that all are up to date! Now, every supervising educator across the district is equipped with a full backpack containing essential information and emergency supplies (including space blankets, first-aid supplies, a flashlight, a whistle, water, safety vests and more) for the students in their care.
At Opstad Elementary’s recent evacuation drill, you could spot these backpacks on most of the staff members as the entire school practiced its emergency response and student accountability measures. We are extremely grateful to everyone who donates to the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation, which enables initiatives like this one to strengthen our schools and support all students.
If you’d like to contribute to the Schools Foundation’s tremendous impact on all SVSD schools, please attend their October 1 Fundraiser Luncheon at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge (RSVP by Sept. 29), or make an online donation. Learn more at the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation website.
