Local Broadcasters Bring Radio Station to TRS

Did you know there’s a local radio station in the Snoqualmie Valley? It’s 104.9 FM. The station is completely volunteer-run, based in Carnation, and has been around for the past decade since its 2016 launch!

Recently, volunteers Terry Spring and Fak Ahmed were invited to Two Rivers School, where they set up their equipment to broadcast during the school day. They met with interested students, answered questions about how a station operates, and shared their personal passion for radio and career paths. A few of the students even got to use their equipment to record scripted taglines for future on-air use to introduce the station.

Thank you, Terry and Fak, for the fun learning experience!! Although the school’s reception did not accommodate a live broadcast this time, we look forward to their next visit when we can find a better location (near an external window) for a stronger radio signal.

In the meantime, check out 104.9 FM! They play a wide range of music, feature interviews and tell stories about life around the Snoqualmie Valley. Occasionally, they will also broadcast from local community events – such as the annual summer festivals in Carnation, Duvall, Fall City, North Bend and Snoqualmie. They mostly feature pre-recorded content, plus one weekly “live” broadcast on Saturday evenings, 6-9 p.m.   What a great way to connect with neighbors across the Valley!
