SVSF Gifts $100,000 to Support Students Across SVSD
The Snoqualmie Valley School District is celebrating an extraordinary $100,000 gift from the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation. Members of the SVSF Board presented the ceremonial big check to district leaders, highlighting the Foundation’s continued commitment to expanding opportunities and supporting students across the district.
Superintendent Dan Schlotfeldt shared his appreciation for the Foundation’s ongoing commitment.
“The Foundation continues to show up for our students in powerful ways,” Schlotfeldt said. “This gift strengthens programs that matter deeply to our district. We are grateful for their partnership and their belief in the potential of every learner.”
District leaders emphasized that partnerships like this one play a critical role in turning vision into action. The Foundation’s support helps ensure that programs aligned with district priorities continue to grow and reach students who benefit most.
SVSF President Steven Freygang noted that the donation reflects the Foundation’s mission to support meaningful learning experiences for all students. “We are proud to invest in programs that remove barriers, expand opportunities, and support student well-being,” Freygang said. “This community cares about kids, and we’re honored to play a part in helping them grow and thrive.”
Foundation leaders echoed the importance of investing in students in ways that create lasting impact. By focusing on equity, opportunity, and well-being, the Foundation aims to support learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom and meet students where they are.
“As a Foundation, our role is to help fill gaps and ensure equity across the district,” said Kevin Shawver, Vice President of the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation. “This gift reflects what’s possible when a community comes together around students. We’re proud to support programs that strengthen learning, well-being, and opportunity for every child in the Snoqualmie Valley.”
The district extends heartfelt thanks to the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation for their unwavering support of students, staff, and families throughout the Snoqualmie Valley.

The $100,000 contribution will support several key initiatives across the district:
Fifth Grade Camp
A long-standing tradition in SVSD, outdoor camp brings students together for teamwork, resilience, and hands-on learning. The Washington State Legislature did not renew funding for the Outdoor Learning Grant Program. As a result, the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation’s support helps offset rising costs and ensures every fifth-grade student can continue to participate in outdoor camp.
Emergency Supplies Refresh
Funds will help schools update critical emergency supplies. These updates ensure that every school is equipped to care for students in an emergency.
Enrichment for Schools Without a PTSA
Some district schools do not have a PTSA to fund enrichment experiences. The Foundation’s support ensures all students have access to engaging activities such as field trips, assemblies, and special classroom programs.
Care Solace
Care Solace provides confidential mental health care coordination for students and families. Continued Foundation funding helps sustain this key support service across the district.
World Language and the Seal of Biliteracy
The donation will expand access to world language learning and testing so students can earn the Seal of Biliteracy, which recognizes advanced proficiency in multiple languages.
MTSS Screener Pilot at Secondary Schools
Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) screeners help staff identify student needs early in areas such as academics, behavior, and social-emotional learning. Foundation funding enables educators to utilize these tools to provide targeted, timely support.
LETRS and Early Literacy Support
This ongoing investment supports educators participating in LETRS training, which provides evidence-based professional learning in early literacy. The work strengthens reading instruction and supports strong literacy foundations for young learners.
