MSHS Principal Search

As announced earlier, Principal Deb Hay will conclude her tenure at Mount Si High School (MSHS) at the end of this school year. In response, the Snoqualmie Valley School District has launched a comprehensive process to select the next principal, designed to include input from a wide range of stakeholders.

Stakeholder-Informed Process

To ensure broad input, a survey was distributed to MSHS families, students, staff, and community members. The survey was based on research-backed characteristics of effective school leadership, as outlined by educational organizations such as the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP).

Insights from this survey are being used to inform each phase of the hiring process, including:

  • Screening applications
  • Developing interview questions
  • Shaping discussion topics for candidate forums
  • Sharing with the eventual hire to use in their work as the new leader at MSHS

Upcoming Milestones

The selection process includes multiple stages of stakeholder engagement:

  • May 12 – Application screening based on survey input
  • May 19 – First-round interviews with stakeholder panels that include students, parents, teachers, support staff, school administrators, and district leaders
  • May 20 – Community Forum with finalist candidates
  • May 21 – Final interviews with the superintendent and selected school board member(s)

Community Forum: Meet the Finalists
