Frequently Asked Questions

Timesheet earnings are paid the month following the month the work was performed. For example, hours worked in September and submitted on a timesheet will be paid in October. Timesheets are due at the end of each month. Late submissions may delay payment until the following payroll cycle.

Follow these steps to estimate your monthly pay:

• Find your work calendar and count the total number of paid days, including holidays.
• Determine your average hours worked per day. For example, if you work 6.5 hours Monday through Thursday and 5 hours on Friday, your total weekly hours are 31. Dividing 31 by 5 gives an average of 6.2 hours per day.
• Find your hourly rate of pay.
• Multiply: Number of Days × Hours per Day × Hourly Rate = Total Contract (Assignment) Value.  Divide the contract value by 12 to determine your approximate monthly gross pay from September through August.

SVSD also contributes to these programs by matching employee Social Security and Medicare contributions and contributing an additional 0.26% toward PFML. Employer-paid taxes and contributions are listed in the Benefits section of your paycheck.

To update your tax withholding, you must submit a new W-4 form. W-4 forms can be updated at any time during the year. A link to the IRS website is available on this page for downloading the current form. Complete, sign, and send the original form to the District Office, Attn: Payroll. Emailed, faxed, or copied forms cannot be accepted. To take effect in the current payroll cycle, changes must be received by the 10^th of the month.

Additional withholding amounts appear in the Deductions section of your paycheck as "1FIT+ Add Amount." This corresponds to Box 4(c) on the W-4 form.

All paychecks issued by SVSD are available in Skyward Employee Access. Navigate to Employee Information and select the Payroll tab. From there, choose Check History to view past paychecks, then click Show Check to see detailed earnings, deductions, and benefits information. ·Work with your supervisor to complete a leave slip and obtain the necessary approvals. Once approved, Payroll will apply unpaid leave or manually enter approved leave during the month the leave occurs.

Unpaid leave appears on your paycheck as LWOP (Leave Without Pay) and will be listed on any paycheck that includes unpaid time.

If the leave request has not yet been approved, simply delete the entry and submit a new request using the correct leave type. If the leave has already been approved, enter a new leave request for the same date and leave type using a negative value. This will restore your leave balance, allowing you to submit a corrected leave request.

After you make changes with your vendor, Envoy notifies the Payroll Department of the update. If the notification is received before the 10^th of the month, the change will be reflected in the current payroll cycle. Updates received after the 10^th will take effect in the following payroll cycle.
