Change or Reset Your Password

There are times when you may need to change or reset your password.

Resetting Your Password: If you forgot your district password and you need to reset it, the option to reset it yourself is now available for district staff accounts. You'll first need to set up your account for that feature. Click below for information on Resetting Your Own Password.

Resetting Your Own Password

Have you forgotten your district password? You can now reset your own password! If you're already registered for Self Service Password Reset, you can reset your password here.

First, Register for Self Service Password Reset (SSPR).

In order to reset your own password, you must be registered for Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) ahead of time by setting up a second form of Multifactor Authentication (MFA). The two authentication methods of MFA are used together during the password reset process. Not all MFA methods will allow you to reset your own password. As shown below, the Authenticator App, Phone (SMS message), Email, and Security Questions will work for SSPR.

If your primary method for MFA is your Office Phone, you may need to register two of the highlighted methods above in order to be eligible for SSPR. To register for SSPR, head over to SVSD.Tech/Security, sign in, and click on Add a sign-in method. If you get stuck, you can refer back to the MFA setup guide at SVSD.Tech/MFA as the process will be similar.

Changing Your Password

Changing your password is easy! There are multiple ways this can be accomplished. Below, you'll find three common methods to change your password.

Remember! An ideal password includes letters, punctuation, symbols, and numbers. We recommend a password that is at least 12 characters. A short phrase with punctuation is a strong and easy-to-remember password. Avoid the following: sequential or repeating characters, characters that are adjacent to each other on a keyboard, and personal information such as names and birthdays.

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL

This first method is the easiest. From your desktop or laptop computer, simply press CTRL+ALT+DEL after you have already signed in to the computer and click on Change a password.

If you are on a standard desktop, it will likely bring up the password fields where you can enter your old and new passwords.
If you are on a laptop or if you sign in with your entire email address as your username, clicking on Change a password will open a web page where you'll see your account information. On the left, click on Password and it will take you to a page where you can enter your old and new passwords.

Microsoft MyAccount

Similar to the method above, you can also do the following:

Open a web browser and go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com
Sign in using your district credentials. It may ask you to verify your Multifactor Authentication.
On the left, click on Password.
Enter your old and new passwords.

ClassLink

You may also use the ClassLink Launchpad to change your password.

In a web browser, go to https://launchpad.classlink.com/svsd410 and sign in using your district username and current password.
Click on your profile icon in the upper right corner and select Settings.
Click on the Recovery tab.
Click on Change Password.
Enter in your old and new passwords and click Save.
