New Skyward

New Skyward

Launching July 13, 2027

SVSD is preparing to migrate to the new version of Skyward next summer. Our Skyward Migration Team will meet throughout the 2026-27 school year to plan the timeline, complete tasks, test data, and prepare staff for the transition.

This upgrade keeps us supported, secure, and compatible with future updates and state requirements while improving usability, performance, and mobile access.

FAQ

What is New Skyward and why are we changing?

The new version of Skyward is called Qmlativ or "Q". This is the latest iteration of Skyward, our information system used for data management of student, staff, and financial information. We are changing because our old version of Skyward is outdated and impossible to upgrade. The New Skyward is built on modern, cloud-based technology and is more flexible, faster, and efficient. New Skyward features customizable dashboards and a new global search bar that will allow you to find students, employees, or reports instantly from any screen.

👥

Who is impacted by this change?

Everyone is impacted. The migration affects all staff, students, and parents/guardians who use Skyward.

🏠

How will this impact parents & guardians?

The actual data families look at (attendance, schedules, grades) won't change, but the look and feel will be different and more user-friendly. During the final days of migration, Skyward will be completely offline and families will temporarily lose access to grades and food services balances for roughly 1 to 2 weeks.

When New Skyward launches, parents and guardians should experience a seamless transition using the same log in/password information as before. Before our Skyward migration is complete, parents and guardians should make sure their student's health and contact information and emergency contacts are current in Skyward. To update student information, please contact your building's registrar.

🔐

Is my login and password the same?

Yes, your existing Skyward credentials will carry over to the new system. Once Skyward is live, you’ll use the same username and password to log in, but you will use a brand new website link to access the new  interface. Instructions and an updated link will be provided closer to the launch to help make the transition smooth.

🎓

Where do I go for training and support?

You will have a specific training pathway assigned based on your role. Before the launch, frequent Skyward users will access to a Training Learning Account (TLA) to practice in a sandbox environment before the launch. Check back on this webpage later for role-based training plans. Most of the training will be self-paced through the Knowledge Hub/Professional Development Center, but there will be some in-person training sessions for certain roles. Technology staff and Digital Learning Coaches will also be offering support and training as needed before and after migration.

General Support: New Skyward has a built-in Help Center with interactive flowcharts and bite-sized videos.

💾

Will I lose my data?

No, the migration team is carefully validating and transferring all historical student records, personnel data, and financial history over to New Skyward.

🧹

What do I need to do to prepare?

Staff: Keep an eye out for training plans, clear out old reports you don't need, and enter any pending requests (like time off or purchase requisitions) before the system lockout date.

Parents/Guardians: Ensure your email address, phone numbers, and emergency contacts are correct. Clean data makes the transfer seamless.

📱

Is there a mobile app?

Yes, Skyward has a mobile app you can use to connect to the database.
