SBAC Testing Information

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Due to the COVID pandemic, the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) postponed spring 2021 tests until fall of 2021. The tests administered in the fall of 2021 were reflective of the grade students were in during the 2020-21 school year.

OSPI is currently resuming its normal testing schedule, with the administration of the Smarter Balanced (SBA) English Language Arts, Mathematics, and the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS). Spring 2022 tests will be reflective of the grade students are in during this 2021-22 school year.  See below for details.

Our school is scheduled to take the spring assessments:

SBAC WEEK 1

Week 2

The SBA and WCAS are year-end summative assessments designed to highlight student learning achievement and growth in ELA, math, and science. Summative assessments include a computer adaptive test and performance tasks that challenge students to apply their knowledge and skills to respond to real-world problems.

From these assessments, we gain valuable information and monitor student progress to ensure all students master the Common Core State Standards. Additionally, the data helps determine if students are prepared for college and career opportunities beyond high school and respond to any needs that surface.

Student assessment scores will be available in Skyward Family Access as soon as their score reports are released from OSPI. We will notify you when this occurs.

Our goal is to make sure your child leaves us with a solid foundation of skills and a future full of opportunities. We appreciate your partnership in ensuring students are present and well-rested during their scheduled testing dates. Please call or email Andre’ Glover (425.831.4145 | glovera@svsd410.org) if you have questions about state testing.

Thank you for continuing to work with us to make sure your child is successful.

Sincerely,

Jeff D’Ambrosio
