Class of 2022 Seniors Receive National Merit Recognition
Nine Mount Si High School seniors have been recognized in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program, for earning top scores in the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which students take their junior year.
National Merit Commended Scholars, who scored in the top 50,000 students among students who took the exam nationwide, include:

*Additionally, Faris Shaik qualifies as a National Merit Semifinalist, since his scores placed among the top 16,000 students nationally. As a semifinalist, Faris can continue in the program, competing through an application process, to be selected as a National Merit Finalist and qualify for college scholarships. These seniors shared some of their plans for after graduation, along with words of wisdom for freshman just starting their high school careers:
Astrid plans to study Fashion Merchandising in London (UK). Her advice: Stay organized.
Jackson is planning to attend college next year; he is still deciding on his major and school. His advice: Stay on top of your work.
Claire wants to study Biology or Engineering at Berkley (CA). She shared: High school gets easier once you get the hang of it.
Jordyn plans to study Computer Science at Northwestern (Chicago) or Cornell (NY). Her advice: Don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone to try new things.
Tashfia plans to attend UW or Stanford, and wants to major in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Her advice: Work hard but also have fun!
Faris wants to study Aerospace Engineering at Stanford University. His advice: Balance the three S’s – School, Social and Sleep.
Tess is considering taking a gap year next year, before college. Her advice: Do what makes you happy!
