On March 18, the Snoqualmie Valley School District began its “Grab and Go” Meals Program to help ensure all children have food during the school closure. This program is available for all children ages 0-18, and for special education students through age 21. Between 12 noon -12:30 p.m. each weekday, Monday through Friday, sack lunches and bagged breakfast items (for the next morning) will be offered to families. Distribution sites have been set up at four local schools:
Cascade View Elementary School (34816 SE Ridge St., Snoqualmie, WA 98065)
Fall City Elementary School (33314 SE 42nd, Fall City, WA 98024)
Opstad Elementary School (1345 Stilson Ave. SE, North Bend, WA 98045)
Snoqualmie Elementary School (39801 SE Park St., Snoqualmie, WA 98065)
Curbside delivery is available for cars, bikes and foot traffic. Children must be present to pick up the meals. This is a federal requirement that is allowing our district to provide children the meals free of charge. Read the flyer (in English) and (en Espanol) for more information.
For those needing assistance with meals who cannot travel to one of the school sites, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, number of children, student names and address. The district is assessing the feasibility of additional delivery locations, if needed.
In addition to this week-day meal service, our school district is partnering with two other organizations. On Fridays, the Helping Hands Weekend Backpack Program will offer groceries for students to cover food needs over the weekend. They will be on-sight at the four school locations with these items. And for dinner meals, the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank is working to support those needs for local families. Together we’re working ensure essential nutritional needs of our families can be met during this extraordinary time.
Special thanks to the SVSD Food Services team for this vital service! In the first two days of operations alone, they handed out a total of 754 nutritious meals to children throughout our districts.
