Continuous Learning Update for the Week of May 25-29

May 22, 2020

Hello Snoqualmie Valley families,

Thank you for continuing to reach out to us during the closure and letting us know how we can support you with remote learning.

Do you have questions about grading?  Please refer to the SVSD Grading Information for this Spring (from April 29). Also, Superintendent Rob Manahan shared this video yesterday (May 21) to help clarify some question regarding grading this spring.

Elementary Students

Memorial Day is this weekend!  There will be no school on the Monday holiday. Weekly engagement plans will be available for the rest of the week Friday at 4 p.m.

Attached below is a survey link asking for feedback as it relates to our weekly Elementary Student Engagement plans. Please take a few minutes to provide feedback. Our goal is to improve these plans every week to the best of our ability. This survey will close Monday, May 25. Your feedback is appreciated.

Each week’s Stay Engaged Plan is designed around grade-level priority standards to help students be prepared for the following school year and guide teachers toward determining a grade for the third trimester. All required work in the Stay Engaged Plan is important for students’ progression.

  • Yellow highlighted **required assignments are the minimum requirement for students. Teachers will provide feedback on these highlighted assignments.
  • **Required work is important and will help to guide feedback given on highlighted work.
  • By highlighting specific work to be turned in, we are helping families prioritize what has to be turned in.

A Monday morning week-in-review video from your child’s teacher will be available to all students Monday by 9 a.m. This video will review all due dates for highlighted assignments in the weekly plan and the dates by which students will receive feedback from the teacher.

Please contact your student’s teacher with questions or concerns.

If you have concerns related to an IEP or 504 plan, please reach out to your child’s case manager (IEP) or the school counselor (504).

Student Surveys about Virtual Learning

Thank you to all students (in grades 6-12) who took our Student Survey #1 this week about your experience with virtual learning.  This first survey will close at midnight tonight, Friday, May 22. The survey links are in Schoology -- middle school survey is posted in Science class, and the Mount Si High School link is in English Language Arts.

Additionally, we would like to ask for your help with a second Student Survey. This time each teacher will be sending their students a survey to get specific feedback about his/her class. A link to survey #2 will be posted in each teacher’s Schoology updates, on Tuesday, May 26. Please encourage your student to complete each teacher’s survey. This important information will help individual teachers know specifically what is working in their own classes and what can be improved. We sincerely appreciate this feedback and we will use it to continue improving our program.

After assessing the results from the student surveys, the District will be sending parent/staff surveys. Some of our questions may be based on the feedback we receive from students. Thanks in advance for your time to provide this valuable feedback.

There will be no school on the Monday Memorial Day holiday. Below are schedules we’ll follow the week of May 25-29. Please note the class meeting times are shortened this week.
