Washington State Dept. of Health Releases Updated K-12 Guidance for Fall

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) released updated K-12 guidance for this fall. It reflects new CDC recommendations to minimize COVID-19 transmission and maximize in-person instruction. Masks are required indoors only for everyone vaccinated or not; physical distancing requirements are much more flexible to allow full-time in-person instruction for all students; and quarantine rules are updated to reduce student exclusions from school. (For example, fully-vaccinated individuals who have no symptoms, will not need to quarantine if they are exposed to a COVID-19 positive case.)

SVSD COVID-19 Precautions

All Snoqualmie Valley Schools will be following DOH guidance for the 2021-22 school year.  Here are details on What's the same and what's different this year with regard to COVID safety requirements at school.

As recommend by Public Health, our mitigations will include:

Promoting Vaccines

Universal Masks for staff, Students, Visitors

Additional Layered Mitigation • Distancing of 3 feet to degree possible in classrooms • Ventilation and Cleaning • Hand Hygiene / Respiratory Etiquette • Staying Home when Sick • Responding to Cases and Outbreaks • Testing and Contract Tracing with Isolation / Quarantine • Reporting cases and outbreaks

In addition, our district has rapid COVID-19 tests to help screen potentially positive individuals and close contacts.

COVID Vaccinations

We encourage all eligible individuals to receive the COVID vaccination. In partnership with Snoqualmie Valley Hospital, COVID and some back-to-school vaccinations will be FREE for SVSD students at clinics. Staff, family members and community neighbors are also welcome. The clinics held in our middle schools offer the Pfizer vaccine for ages 12+ and other immunizations for ages 11+.
