Schools Foundation Donates $121,000 for District Initiatives

The Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation recently presented a check for $121,000 to help fund district-wide initiatives at all Snoqualmie Valley schools (an increase from $86,000 last year).  This amount was raised during the Schools Foundation Spring Fundraising Luncheon on March 23.

Thanks to generous donations from community members and businesses, the following districtwide initiatives will benefit all SVSD students during the 2018-19 school year:

  • Elementary School Music Barred Instrument Program (K-5) – $56,000 The Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation will fund the purchase of marimbas or Orff xylophones so that all six elementary school have access to these engaging instruments to complement the elementary choir experience. This Foundation Board is very excited to be able to fully fund this new initiative.
  • AVID College and Career Readiness Program (6-12) – $25,000 Foundation funding has helped to establish this effective program for grades 6-12 at CKMS, TFMS and MSHS, over the past two years. This additional funding will enable more teachers to receive Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) training with the goal implementing key concepts from the program in classrooms districtwide.
  • Elementary Reading/Math Differentiation (K-5) -- $30,000 ($5K per school)
  • Middle School Math Support (6-8) -- $10,000 ($5K per school)

The District is grateful to all the Schools Foundation volunteers and community donors for their generous support of these programs and others that benefit all Snoqualmie Valley students.
