Cheer Teams Win Regionals and Qualify for Nationals
On Saturday, November 3, both the Mount Si Red and Mount Si Gameday Cheer teams competed at UCA Northwest Regionals at Tahoma High School. The Mount Si Red team placed first in the Super Varsity division, while the Mount Si Gameday team also placed first in their division beating out ten other teams!
Not only did both teams come in first, but their scores earned Mount Si bids to the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida in February of 2019. This is the seventh year that the Mount Si High School Cheer has qualified for Nationals. Last year, they had their highest-ever finish, placing third in the nation in the Super Varsity Non-Tumbling Division.
Last Saturday was a busy day, according to Mount Si Cheer Coach Jessii Stevens. “Since our competition was at the same time as the football play-off game, we had about 10 cheerleaders, who weren't competing, stay to cheer at the game. Then, as soon as we were done competing in Tahoma, we raced home and finished out the 4th quarter of the game!”
