Several Mount Si High School band students were selected through auditions to perform at the Western International Band Clinic (WIBC) Conference as part of the WIBC Honor Bands. The students included: clarinetist Mary Piekarczyk, baritone saxophonist Elijah Wray, trombonist James Kolke, tenor saxophonist Ryan Myrvold, tuba player Erik Thurston and clarinetist Hannah Stoddard.
WBIC, founded in 1979, is a highly-regarded convention for directors and students in the Western United States. This year’s conference was held in Seattle on the weekend of November 16-19. The event featured four high school honor bands, performing under six world-renowned guest conductors and a soloist.
“We are very proud of the six Mount Si High School Band members for being accepted to perform with the 2018 Western International Band Clinic Honor Bands! James, Ryan, Mary, Hannah, Erik and Eli are dedicated musicians who represented our program with integrity and professionalism at this prestigious event!” stated Bill Leather, MSHS director of bands.
