Seeking Computer Science Mentors for the TEALS Program

Professionals who work in the computer science or software engineering field are wanted for the Technology Education and Literacy in Schools (TEALS) program at Mount Si High School. The Microsoft Philanthropies program recruits mentors and places passionate high tech professionals into high school classes as volunteer instructors. The experts bring their subject knowledge into the classroom, where they join a Mount Si High School teacher in a team-teaching model. The TEALS program provides training, curriculum and support for the volunteers and the classroom teachers.

Mount Si High School has applied to this program for the 2019-20 school year. We are looking for volunteer TEALS Teaching Assistants to assist the classroom teacher in two classes next year: AP Computer Science A: Introduction to Java Programming and AP Computer Science Principles.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please go to www.tealsk12.org/volunteers to apply – and reference Mount Si High School. If you have questions about the program, email Helen Henry, the PNW TEALS Senior Regional Manager, at helen@tealsk12.org for more information.

If you have additional questions about the Mount Si High School’s Computer Science program, please contact teacher Kyle Warren at warrenk@svsd410.org.
