School-wide Book Swap Encourages Reading and Sharing
Snoqualmie Elementary students took part in a school-wide Book Swap event that encouraged reading and sharing. When families were invited to donate gently-used books that they may no longer be using at home, the response yielded hundreds of books. Students who donated books received a ticket for each book they brought in (up to 5), which in turn granted their selection. In addition, teachers took their classes through the book swap collection ensuring every student had the opportunity to enjoy “new-to-you” books at home.
“It was really fun watching kids’ excitement when they looked and discovered their book choices,” said SES Literacy Language Specialist Rachel Patty, who helped coordinate the event with the school’s PTSA.
