Coronavirus Update: Message for Families of Students with a 504 Plan
March 29, 2020
Dear Families of Students with 504 Plans,
The Snoqualmie Valley School District and Student Services department continues to prioritize the health and safety of students, staff, and the community as we navigate these unprecedented times. As the District works to support our families and community, we want to assure you that equitably meeting the needs of our students supported by Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is at the forefront of our considerations.
Teachers are providing weekly resources and optional education-related activities. If you have questions or concerns about these resources or activities, please reach out to your student’s certificated staff, who will be responding to email throughout the school closures. They will be collaborating with the school counselor.
In addition, based upon the current guidance, your student’s counselor will contact you about participating in any upcoming or previously-scheduled annual 504 meetings. To comply with current health restrictions, any such meetings will be held via phone or video conference at a mutually agreed-upon date and time. If you prefer to hold an in-person meeting, however, you may request to delay any proposed team meeting until your student’s school is back in session.
The District will continue providing ongoing communication to keep you informed as the public health situation improves and/or available federal and state guidance is updated. Please see our website for additional information. As always, we appreciate our community and stand with you in support of your children during this very challenging time.
