Step-by-Step Zoom Instructions for the First Day of School

Good morning & Happy First Day of School for Grades 1-12

Hello SVSD families,

Sunday night, we sent a message to parent/guardian email that we are reposting here for your reference.

We were made aware of a message that some students may be receiving when trying to access a Zoom meeting.  It asks the student to confirm their email address in order to continue to the meeting.  This extra step is a security setting to prevent unauthorized accounts from being able to mimic school district accounts. It is something Zoom has recently implemented since we have set up authentication and our custom domain to enhance security for our meetings. Attached to this email is a step-by-step guide to follow if you get the email confirmation message.

Also included in the attached guide is a Zoom link where you can test logging in to a Zoom meeting. Please note, you will not make it all the way into a meeting, but if you reach a screen that says “Please wait for the host to start this meeting” then you have made it to where you need to be!  Since Schoology courses do not populate until the start date of the course, you will not see any courses or Zoom links in Schoology until this Monday morning (8/31). Using the test link in the guide will allow you to make sure you can log in prior to your first meeting.

Please refer to this step-by-step resource for details: Zoom Student Instructions link (also as a pdf).
