Ten Mount Si DECA Students Qualify for State Competition

 

Thirty Mount Si High School students participated in the DECA area competition on January 15, 2021.  Students participated in regional business-related competitions by creating videos of themselves doing a role play to showcase specific business skills and subject categories. Volunteer business professionals from the area, then scored the students. As a result, Mount Si High School has 10 students moving on to State Competition this spring. 

 

The following students all finished in the Top 12 for their event, qualifying them for State:

  • *Ava Brodie and Makena Lau in Marketing Management Team Decision Making
  • Emma Cullen in Business Services Marketing
  • Mariam Mohammed in Human Resource Management
  • Oliver Lang in Food Marketing
  • Audrey Esteban in Restaurant and Food Service Management
  • Makhayla Adams and Indi Edwards in Sports and Entertainment Marketing Team Decision Making

*And, Ava and Makena earned first place!

 

In addition, two first-year DECA members scored in the Top 20 for their event and are eligible to go on to State:

  • Colton Rose and Olivia Douglas in the Principles of Marketing Role Play event

The State DECA Competition is technically March 3-6, but students will submit their videos the week before, February 25.  In addition to the competition, students will have access to a variety of business academies and guest speakers, as well as an opening session and awards ceremony for state competition.  For more information, visit the DECA State Area Conference Website.
