Mount Si Senior Named to the 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program List
Congratulations to Mount Si High School Senior Malakhi T. Wheaton, for being honored by the by the U.S. Department of Education, as a candidate in the 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.
The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, by executive order of the President, to recognize and honor some of our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. Application is by invitation only, to students who were selected based their high SAT/ACT scores primarily. A review committee then evaluates candidates on their academic achievement, leadership, service activities, personal characteristics and their essay. In April, up to 161 students will be named as U.S. Presidential Scholars, one of the nation's highest honors for high school students. Scholar finalists are honored for their accomplishments during the National Recognition Program held in June in Washington, D.C. In honoring the U.S. Presidential Scholars, the President of the United States symbolically honors all graduating high school seniors of high potential.
“Congratulations to Malakhi for this prestigious honor. I am so proud of how hard so many students work at Mount Si. The future is bright!” stated Mount Si High School Principal John Belcher.
