Mount Si Musicians Selected for WMEA and WIBC Honor Bands


Congratulations to 13 Mount Si High School band students who recently earned recognition for their dedication to their music, by being named to 2021 All State High School bands.


The Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA) announced its 2021 All-State Concert Band this week, and two Mount Si band students were selected for this honor:

  • Samuel Boysen, tuba, 10th grade
  • Simon Boysen, French horn, 9th grade

They were selected through audition and are among talented students across Washington State being recognized. For more info here:


Also, the following students auditioned for the Western International Band Clinic (WIBC), and were selected to among students from 34 states and two foreign countries to comprise the WIBC Honor Bands for High School Students.  Congratulations to Mount Si students (listed alphabetically):

  • Haven Beares, bass trombone, 11th grade
  • Samuel Boysen, tuba, 10th grade
  • Simon Boysen, French horn, 9th grade
  • Walker Byford, percussion, 12th grade
  • Rachel Chai, flute, 9th grade
  • Samuel Chen, trombone, 11th grade
  • Liann Downs, clarinet, 11th grade
  • Thomas Lewis, euphonium, 11th grade
  • Urielle Lockwood, trombone, 10th grade
  • Eleanor McEneaney, flute, 11th grade
  • Ethan Palomo, trumpet, 11th grade
  • Saumya Suripeddi, flute, 10th grade
  • Andrew Wall, trumpet, 10th grade

As part of this honor, they will be participating in the WIBC Virtual Event that includes master classes, rehearsals, leadership events, and many more great opportunities, taking place next weekend, February 20-21, 2021. They will also be recording virtual honor band performances that will premiere later in March. Find more information here:
