Friday night’s State Football Play-off game, November 9, was a very close and intense competition, resulting in a 39-38 Mount Si win over Mount Vernon High School. We are proud of the athletic accomplishments of our team. Unfortunately, there were some incidents during this event that we are not so proud of, which have caused us to reflect on and learn from.
There were some behaviors that were in our control, and some that were not – on the part of both teams. With the emotional nature and high intensity of the competition, admittedly, there were times when our team and coaching staff did not respond with the high character and sportsmanship that Mount Si High School has worked hard to instill.
It is our understanding that KING 5 is working on a story that depicts a lack of sportsmanship at this event, which will focus on both teams.
For our part, we take full responsibility and accountability for our behavior. We want to apologize for this emotional and momentary lapse in judgement. And, we will be using this experience to help improve our programs and stadium protocols.
This coming Friday, November 16, Mount Si will host the next play-off game against Puyallup High School, at 7 p.m. at the MSHS stadium.
Let’s use this opportunity to demonstrate and uphold the proud tradition of high integrity and character that IS Mount Si High School and our Snoqualmie Valley community.
As always, thank you for your support. Go Wildcats!
