Mount Si Runner Is Cross Country State Champ


Congratulations to Mount Si High School Senior Joe Waskom, who finished 1st in the 5000 meter race at the 4A Cross County State Championship on November 3 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco, Washington.

Following the state competition, Waskom went on to compete in the Nike Cross Northwest Regional competition in Boise, Idaho last Saturday November 10. As a result, he has qualified for Nationals in December in Portland, Oregon. There he will represent the Northwest Region and compete among top high school runners in the nation!


Waskom plans to attend the University of Washington next year and earlier this year, committed to run for the Husky team. He will join his sister Hannah, who graduated from Mount Si in 2017 and is also currently a UW runner.
