North Bend Elementary Teacher Named as 2015 Earth Hero

Mrs. VonTrapp
North Bend Elementary 5th grade teacher Meredith VonTrapp has been selected as a 2015 King County Earth Hero at School.

The Earth Heroes at School Program celebrates the importance of protecting and enhancing our natural environment. Each year, outstanding individuals, groups and programs in King County schools are recognized. A ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in Renton, to recognize the 2015 Earth Heroes at School.

“Mrs. VonTrapp has played an integral role leading our school’s outdoor education program. Each year, she organizes a four-day outdoor learning opportunity at NatureBridge on Lake Crescent on the Olympic Peninsula—a tradition that all 5th graders eagerly anticipate. She has partnered with the Mountains to Sound Greenway organization to bring hands-on projects to our school grounds that teach stewardship for the environment. Additionally, Mrs. VonTrapp organizes the Green Team each year to assist with recycling and conservation efforts around our school. She is very deserving of this recognition for the memorable outdoor learning experiences she’s helped provide hundreds of NBE students over the years,” said Jim Frazier, North Bend Elementary principal.
