Knowledge Bowl Earns 3rd Place Finish and Qualifies for State
On February 27, two Mount Si High School Knowledge Bowl teams competed in the 4A Regional competition at Mt. Tahoma High School.
Mount Si's “A” team stayed very competitive throughout the day running third out of a total of 50 teams at the competition. In the end, the A Team earned the number three spot in their division among 14 other 4A schools participating. This finish qualifies the team to advance to the State Knowledge Bowl Competition on Saturday, March 19, in Arlington.
“Mount Si’s B Team did wonderfully too and had a great last two oral rounds, having the highest score in each of those rounds in their competition," explained Knowledge Bowl Advisor and Science Teacher Kevin Knowles. "I am so very proud of these wonderful, academically-strong young people I have been coaching all year in preparation for this competition!”
Congratulations to the Knowledge Bowl team members who competed in the regional competition:
The MSHS A Team, called “Mount Si Psychics”, includes: seniors James Radek (Co-president of the club), Will Kramer and Ryan Moore, and juniors Casey Harris and Autumn Capper.
The MSHS B Team, called “Mount Si Sidekicks”, includes: juniors Annika Laufer (Co-president), Noah Vaughn, Preston Henning, Donovan See, Mary Nelson and Coleman Trader.
“We are always excited to participate in this competition that shows what we know. It allows us to judge our academic ability among all of our students’ peers in other schools regionally and across the entire state. Way to go Knowledge Bowl!” added Knowles.
The Mount Si High School Knowledge Bowl Club meets every Monday, in room 122 from 2:30-4:30 p.m.
